In the spirit of ages-old quilting bees...

JUST BEE was created in the nostalgic style of quilting bees as a response to requests from crafters in search of intergenerational gatherings. These craft circles aim to connect community members of all ages for crafting and story sharing.
Each meeting will have a unique craft theme. No experience in the specific craft is required! Each circle will be led by experienced crafters wishing to share their skills with a new generation.

Already working on a project of the same craft? Come and work in community!

Those interested in starting a new project are encouraged to create a handmade item to be donated to the church’s holiday outreach programs later this year. A list of supported organizations and desired items will be available at Just Bee events.

Do you enjoy a craft you don't see listed here? Teachers needed for future events! Contact us today!

Faith & Fiber: Crafters' Community Service Projects

The Fibers of Creation
Join us as we work to create simple Earth-friendly items to be used by our community and distributed to our neighbors and those in need. Current projects/ideas include:

  • 100% Cotton Fiber wash cloths to be included in emergency hygiene bags for our neighbors experiencing         homelessness.
  • 100% Cotton Fiber re-usable kitchen scrubbers. Replace plastic-laden sponges and scrubbers with these         natural fiber, machine-washable "sponges".
  • Reusable market bags
  • And, we're always accepting new ideas and new crafters to join our circle!

Cold Weather Outreach - 2020 Completion Deadline: September 30.
Seeking Crafters to complete 100 hat/scarf sets  to be sent to the congregation of St. John's Episcopal Church, Dryden, Michigan and in turn given as gifts to each of Dryden's 2020 6th grade class as a "Welcome to Middle School" gift that will double as a way to distribute warmth to those in need. Help us connect chilly teenagers to warmly crafted hats and scarves, and the congregation of St. John's to their community's youth! Additionally hat/scarf sets will be given to an area retirement home to provide warmth to seniors as they travel to and from necessary doctor appointments.

To provide consistency particularly among the students we ask that the pieces should be should be either knit or crocheted (single or double only please) using a "5" or "6" weight yarn equivalent and that scarves be approximately 6" wide x 60" long.

If you are able to join us in crafting these items, either in community or at home, please email Deb.

Thank you!
All are welcome! Come & Craft with Us!
Hosted by Emmaus Episcopal Church, Surprise, JUST BEE is open to all community members regardless of faith background. Come. Meet new friends. Share your craft. Learn a craft.  Come and Just Bee.
